This is what Oral-B brushes have needed to be all along. So having two other Oral-B brushes as well as a Sonicare I can say this is the perfect blend between the two. The iO series (not sure about the 7 but certainly the 8 and the 9) have the Oral B dentist inspired heads but also now feel like a Sonicare brush. They have a nice sonic pulse which is mentioned in other reviews which leave my teeth feeling a bit cleaner than before. I enjoy the display so it is easier to switch between brush modes. The Bluetooth feature while cool isn't a make it or break it feature, it is nice to be reminded to change your brush head. A major improvement: the fast wireless charging base. While you may think it isn't a big deal, a flat wireless base is much easier to keep clean and clean over a base with a peg or some kind of clip. A highly recommended tooth brush.
Although, it's not currently available at this time (as I'm writing this review) on Amazon, I went to the Oral-b site and found that this runs around $249. I didn't think it would be cheap considering it's high-tech and of great quality. This would make a great gift for anyone who prioritizes good oral hygiene or even the geek in your life. They'll love it!
First, let me start with just the mechanical aspects. It just works great. I feel like I've had my teeth professionally cleaned when I'm done. I've only used a manual toothbrush before now, so I can't speak to how it compares to other electric brushes, but I probably could have saved on some dentist bills if I was using this in the past. It fits great in my hands, is simple to operate and I'm very happy with how it works overall.
But what I really love is the app. I followed the directions to download the OralB app, it synced right up and it provides some really nice assistance to using the brush. My dentist has often told me that I neglect my molars when I'm brushing, but I just forget when I'm using a regular toothbrush. The app provides a real-time guide to how much time I should spend on each section of teeth, and in the diagram it transitions the teeth from blue to white when I'm done with that section. The brush will also vibrate if you're not using the app to let you know it's time to move to the next quadrant. Very slick!
When you're done, the app reminds you to use mouthwash, brush your tongue and floss. Again, those are all things I know I should do but too often neglect. I love tracking health data and this provides me an overall summary and details about each day. It also syncs up with Apple Health on my iPhone so my brushing habits are now included in my overall health profile.
I really didn't think it would be possible to improve the brushing experience this much, but I'm a big believer in this product and I highly recommend it.

The Drawback

* Proprietary charger: The power adapter is proprietary to Oral-B products & it does not use the more desirable USB Type-C charging. This means, when traveling, I have to carry this charger adopter instead of using USB Type-C cable which can be used to charge pretty much all my portable devices.
* MSRP at $249, it's not cheap, but totally worth it

If you're looking for it revolutionary electric brush quick with smart technology such as artificial intelligence will help you better clean your teeth, you just cannot find a better one than this Oral-B iO 8 series a rechargeable toothbrush. Its sticker price is not for the faint-hearted, but once you use it, you will fall in love with it as it cleans the amazingly. In short, I really don't look forward to daily toothbrushing, especially when I'm so tired I want to go to bed or I could barely open my eyes in the morning, with this Oral-B iO Series 8 smart electric toothbrush, I can have my eyes half-closed and knowing that I'm getting a complete clean on my teeth on a daily twice a day basis. I highly recommend this to anyone especially those with small children.

Intuitive: Yes, there’s a mobile app. And yes, there’s many modes to choose from, but don’t shy away if you aren’t tech-savvy. You don’t NEED to download the app, and with only two buttons and a clear, bright color screen, you can be brushing within minutes of opening the box.
User experience is modern and easy to navigate. The brush modes are simply fantastic. I tend to stay with “sensitive” having some trouble spots in my mouth with sensitive gums. But there’s something for everyone. Daily Clean, Whitening, Gum Care, Super Sensitive and Intense round out the other options. They can be changed while brushing with a single button click.
The brush remembers your last mode and “wakes up” and greets you with a nice message when you pick it up. As with most electric toothbrushes, it times your brushing. UNLIKE most electric toothbrushes, it also incorporates a pressure sensor. It lights up red if you’re pressing too hard, green if you’re right where you need to be.
The brush moves with a smooth vibration and slight rotation. It’s quiet and very nice feeling...basically professional!
The included brush heads are unique and very gentle yet effective. The downside is the heads are specific to the iO series so any of my extra older Oral-B brush heads had to be gotten rid of. It also means generic heads are not going to be available any time soon. Granted this is not a cheap toothbrush anyway, so it’s worth getting the OEM heads and maintaining this experience.
Battery life is excellent and the magnetic charger base is robust, and stays where you put it!!!
Overall, this is a fantastic leapfrog design in the toothbrush world. I know a lot of folks can’t get comfortable with electric brushes. But between the beautiful design, smooth operation, and wide array of modes and brush heads, there’s something for everyone here with this brush! Give it a try, your dentist will thank you!
